A conference looking at advancements in emotional wellbeing strategies currently being delivered across Belfast took place in the city centre last week.

The ‘Better Emotional Wellbeing – Better Belfast’ event, organised by the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust supported by the Belfast Strategic Partnership, celebrated the launch of the Primary Care Talking Therapies & Well-Beings Hubs. It was also an opportunity to inform commissioners and mental health service providers from the statutory, community and voluntary sectors on the emotional well-being strategies and developments across the city.

The event, held in Grosvenor Hall on May 14, was opened by the Mayor of Belfast Arder Carson and featured a range of presentations from service providers.

Irene Sherry Co-Chair Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Thematic Group also gave a presentation on the highly successful ‘Take 5’ campaign which is aimed at promoting the use of five simple steps to improve health and wellbeing. Workshops also took place during the conference and gave participants the opportunity to explore the challenges of commissioning services throughout the whole healthcare system and how agencies can better work together to create seamless pathways for patients through that system.
